Alas, in spite of our attempt to have our accounts re-instated due to our excellent credit and banking history (see below) we are no longer able to accept credit card pavement for phone sex! September 2003 I am really sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news. The banks with whom we have had our merchant account since 1990 have recently decided that they no longer wish to continue to service the adult industry due to a high level of charge backs (*)and as a result have informed us that as of October 2003, we will no longer be able to use their accounts for our credit card charges. (*) A charge back is when a customer contacts his/her credit card company in order to dispute a charge stating that the services or goods "allegedly" charged for were not done by him/her. Whilst this measure was introduced to protect the customers (and we all heartedly agree with its principles) it actually turned out to be a perfect weapon for some unscrupulous SOBS who realized that all they had to do was to purchase goods or services and then deny they had done so. It is a perfect weapon because of the nature of the adult industry where all transactions are done by phone or are internet purchases where no signature from the purchaser exists so that customers are in all cases given the benefit of the doubt. In the past, banks gave adult industries various conditions they had to meet in order to continue to accept credit card payment. Here are the conditions karen-phone-sex.com had to fulfill: 1. Customers are always given the benefit of the doubt, even when we can show the banks telephone logs as proof that a call was indeed purchased. 2. Each charge back is automatically debited from our account and credited back into the customers account. 3. Banks charge an administration fee of $25 to "cover" the cost of administering said charge backs. The fee is payable by the adult company, in this case us. 4. A limit of 2.5 pc of total charge back cannot be exceeded. In the event that it is, there are a number of penalties ranging from $20,000 fines to the outright termination of the contract. Karen-phon-sex.com has never exceeded 0.7 percent of charge backs and in every single case, we had the documentation to prove that the customers who initiated the charge back had indeed called, had indeed received the services and we had official telephone logs provided by an independent phone companies to document our cases. First, a big thank you to all of you who have become our callers and friends. Without you we wouldn't be here and we are delighted by the unexpected volume of business! Once again thank you guys and keep up the good work! As many of you have found out, our telephone system has not yet lived up to what the brochure said! Ain't that a surprise! We are working on several options and we should all see some improvement soon. Many of you have asked me why we do not employ a 24 hour's live operator to process your calls. Well, we have given this a lot of thought and at the end of the day, it's all a question of economics. A 24 hours dispatching unit would mean at least 3 shifts, which is added cost and we wanted to keep our cost way down.
